How EMDR Therapy Can Help

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy approach that can help people process distressing memories and the beliefs, emotions, and reactions associated with them.

Depending on your experiences and treatment goals, EMDR may be incorporated into therapy to address the effects of painful relationships, childhood experiences, rejection, and other adverse events.

EMDR isn't the right fit for every person or every situation. We'll discuss your needs, readiness, and goals when determining an appropriate approach.

Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR and Trauma Therapy in Virginia

Can I see you from Virginia if you're based in Maryland?

Yes, I am licensed to practice in Virginia and can provide virtual therapy to eligible clients physically located in the DMV area during the session. Virtual appointments mean you don't need to travel to Maryland.

Can I attend a session if I am not in Virginia?

You can attend sessions if you are in Virginia, Maryland, or DC, as I am licensed in all three jurisdictions. For example, if you live in Virginia but work in Maryland or DC, then you could do the session from work, provided that you are in a distraction-free and private location.

If you're traveling outside of the DMV area, please let me know and we can reschedule your appointment.

How do I know if EMDR is right for me?

EMDR is an effective therapy for most but not for everyone. Also, it's not the only type of therapy that I offer. We can discuss if EMDR may be appropriate during a free 15-minute consultation call.

Are virtual therapy sessions confidential?

Yes, all sessions take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform through SimplePractice. You should participate from a private location where you can speak freely.

Your Past Doesn't Have to Define Your Future

You deserve relationships in which you can be yourself, the confidence to trust your own judgement, and the freedom to make choices that reflect your needs and values.

You don't have to figure everything out before beginning therapy.

Let's start with a conversation about what you're experiencing and what you hope will change.
