Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do virtual therapy if I am not in Maryland?

You can attend therapy if you are located in Maryland, Virginia, or DC, as I am licensed in those areas. If you are traveling outside of the DMV area, please let me know ahead of time and we can reschedule.

What is the difference between EMDR and talk therapy?

EMDR is a structured psychotherapy approach that helps people process distressing experiences and associated thoughts, feelings, and reactions. Talk therapy can involve exploring experiences, patterns, and emotions through conversation. Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate EMDR, other approaches, or a combination.

Will I be able to do therapy if I have a busy schedule?

Online therapy lets you attend sessions from a private location with a secure Internet connection, without commuting. This is helpful for those balancing work, family, and other commitments. We can schedule and, if necessary, reschedule appointments that fit your schedule.

Some make it a point to schedule the same time every week, while others schedule appointment by appointment if they have a schedule that often changes.

What if I understand my patterns but still struggle to change them?

Understanding why you respond or act a certain way doesn't always make it easy to change. Therapy allows you to explore the experiences and beliefs contributing to your responses, build self-trust, and work toward healthier relationships.
